Of buntings and homemade cakes {A Father’s Day post}

Our Father’s Day celebration this year went on without a hitch! I think it’s getting better and better each year!  Lyndon wasn’t surprised anymore as he knows that in our house, not a celebration goes by without these staples:
  • charming celebration banners
  • homemade cake
  • ceremonial gift-giving

This  year’s Father’s day gift is extra special as Lyndel was really hands-on with the decorations. Just look at the photos below. 🙂

Dreaming about my craft station

Only a few friends know this. I have an up and coming decor and accessories line for nurseries and kids rooms. I remember fully well early this year when I was starting on my designs – I’d sneak out of our unit just to create my crafts. I had to do that because I have a super curious toddler and I won’t have any work done when he’s around. There was a time when I camped out of our unit with all of my tools and materials. But it was such a pain as I always had to go back inside when I needed to: use the glue gun, use the flat iron, or work on a proper table.I must have a proper craft station.

 These days, I find myself wandering to craft sites and pinterest and dream about my craft station. This photo below is my first option 🙂 Paging Lyndon, this is my dream craft station 🙂 hehe

Our DIY Christmas

”I’m participating in the Spend-Less Holidays: Saving While Savoring the Season Blog Carnival, hosted by The Frugal Fil-Am and Dainty Mom. We’ll be sharing our tips on how to spend less this holiday season, so that we can have a more meaningful Christmas. Please scroll down to the end of the post to see the list of carnival entries.”

Last year was our first Christmas in our new home. That means, new home = moving in expenses + renovations and other unexpected expenses. So naturally, when the holidays rolled in, we really didn’t have that much budget for any Christmas decorations, trimmings and all that jazz. But silly old me Chrissy-mas-tree never wanted to succumb to the no-holiday-cheer atmosphere in our home. Besides, it was Lyndel’s first Christmas (well technically second but last 2010 he was still in an infant so he wasn’t really aware of things yet) and I wanted it to be special for him somehow. To the moon and back! {Father’s Day Post}

I know a lot has happened last August. But before I even post L’s birthday and the other stuff, allow me to share this first 🙂

June 17, 2012
On this year’s Father’s day, we were stuck at home because of the bad weather. I prepared some treats for our Dad Extraordinaire but there’s just one missing element: the cake!! I was panicking because we can’t go to Eastwood to my suki gourmet market vendors. Anyway, here’s how the day went.

Our Father’s Day buntings. In our household, a celebration always calls for buntings! 🙂 [Read more…]
