On Your Way To Better Looking Skin

I’ve been bummed about my skin lately when I came across this post from workchic.com’s blog 🙂

It’s full of tips for us Moms who want our skin to still be in tip-top shape 🙂

1. Eat a good breakfast, since this will keep your blood sugar balanced all day – which fights breakouts. Make sure it has a balance of protein and carbs. Examples: Oatmeal with nuts on top; eggs and whole wheat toast; Greek yogurt and fruit.

This remains to be the ideal for me. In the mornings, I normally rush out of the door as I’ll be late for work. Must change, must change.

2. To fight wrinkles, make sure you eat green and yellow veggies at least once a day. The cartenoids and other antioxidants can protect your skin from the sun and fight the free radicals that break down collagen over time.

Oh, goody! I won’t have a problem with that! I love veggies!

3. Got breakouts? Avoid dairy, which has been linked to acne. Instead, pour soy almond milk in your cereal or coffee.

Oh dear, that could be hard. I loooove dairy products! I love soy milk too, but what about cream cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, ice cream? ahahaha

4. Keep a food diary or keep track of your meals in your iPhone or Blackberry. This way you’ll know what you’re really eating.

This is a good practice. I also read about this in French Women don’t get Fat.

5. Trade coffee for green tea, which can help fight sun damage and wrinkles.

No problem with that! 🙂 I’m not a huge coffee drinker anyway.

6. Snack on almonds or walnuts, which are high in omega-3 fatty acids to help dry skin feel smooth and soft.

Oooh, I love almonds!

7. For thick, healthy hair, eat green beans. They’re one of the richest sources of silicon, a naturally occurring element that strengthens hair and nails.

Yes Ma’am!

8. Have a healthy snack every three hours. This will prevent blood sugar swings, which can damage your skin’s collagen and lead to wrinkles.

I didn’t know about this. I thought getting hungry is just all about headaches. It’s also bad for the skin??!! Ack!!

9. Eat dark chocolate! Full of antioxidants, and no, it doesn’t cause acne — unless it’s super sweet milk chocolate.

Aye, aye Captain! I will happily follow this!

10. Stay hydrated with water, club soda, or caffeine free drinks. Dehydrated skin looks dull and saggy.

I couldn’t agree more!

So there you have it! And of course, I must add, also very important – manage to get decent sleep. No ZZZZs bring more ZITS!
